It’s been well known for a long while that fish oil is fantastic for our health and likewise for our skin, but did you know that salmon DNA is in fact very similar to human DNA? It certainly makes the idea of mermaids a little more believable, but what does it mean from a skin health perspective?
For a start, salmon DNA is very safe and compatible with the human body without causing any adverse side effects. Salmon DNA naturally contains a large amount of Hyaluronic Acid which, as we know from the endless adverts for serums and creams, is a fantastic moisturiser for our skin with the added health benefit of being enriched with vitamins, minerals, proteins, and amino acids.
Warning – science bit! ameela® is an absorbable intradermal injectable solution, based on polymerized polynucleotides (PDRN) of animal origin (salmon*). It offers an innovative and effective way to restore skin firmness and elasticity as well as ensure healthy skin that is protected against free radicals and cellular damage. The salmon DNA used in ameela® is purified to be free from other components (such as proteins) which may trigger an immune response.
What are the advantages?
The DNA based injection, also known as the ‘youth vaccine’, triggers tissue regeneration and restores skin tone and elasticity, targets free radicals and oxidative stress, increases local vascularization, and improves tissue regeneration. Helping to restore skin firmness and elasticity. It can also have a hydrating impact and act as an instant volume enhancer - ideal for those with volume loss under the eyes that results in dark circles and tired looking eyes.
How does it work?
Warning – more science! ameela® changes the structures within our skin from fibroblasts (the most common type of cell found in connective tissue) to myofibroblasts, essentially a midway state between fibroblasts and smooth muscle cells... Because this is a completely natural process that occurs regularly in our bodies, it takes effect quickly, giving a lift in the skin structure after just a few minutes.
The anti-free radical action of ameela® prolongs the activity of hyaluronic acid by around 40% over treatments without it. The Polynucleotides found in ameela® connect with multiple cell receptors, which initiates a cascade of reactions. Most importantly attracting stem cells to the area, which has a strong repairing effect on the tissue. This also enhances the formation of new capillaries (angiogenesis) and changes the structure of the fibrilles in our tissue, which results in instant tightening and contouring of the tissue.
What areas can be treated with ameela®?

Treating eyebags, periocular wrinkles, and dark circles as well as improving dehydrated skin and poor circulation, ameela® EYES can be considered an alternative to tear-trough fillers.
Improves skin tone, elasticity and contours while reducing wrinkles and fine lines on the face, neck and décolletage.
ameela® STRONG (FACE)
Improves skin tone and elasticity, and reduces wrinkles and fine lines with faster healing and tissue improvement as a post-surgery treatment. Most commonly used on the jawline and scalp area.
RESULTS -22,5% wrinkles after just 3 treatments
SESSIONS 2-3 sessions about 2-3 weeks apart
MAINTENACE 1 treatment every 6-9 months

How much does ameela® at REclinic cost?
2-3 treatments are recommended initially about 2-3 weeks apart. After that, a ‘top-up’ treatment is recommended every 6-9 months.
